ED treatment options: medicines and other approaches
Understand how ingredient choices fit into a wider discussion of erectile dysfunction treatment.
Erectile dysfunction means difficulty getting or maintaining an erection adequate for sexual activity. Repeated problems deserve an assessment because the cause can involve physical health, medicines, stress or a combination of factors. NHS ED overview.
Start with the cause
NIDDK describes treatment of underlying causes, lifestyle changes and counseling alongside medicines and devices. A clinician can review health conditions and current medicines before choosing an ED treatment. Do not stop another prescribed medicine because you suspect it contributes to ED.
Medicine options
The ingredient directory covers the four oral PDE5 inhibitor families and alprostadil. Product profiles connect those ingredients to specific names and formulations. Injections or other formulations require their own instructions and, where needed, training.
Other treatments
Vacuum devices and surgical options have a place in clinical ED care. Their suitability depends on the person and treatment goals. This first catalogue covers named medicines; it does not yet provide a verified device directory.
Prepare for an appointment
Bring the names of medicines and supplements you use, your symptoms and any treatment already tried. Discuss expectations with your partner if that is helpful. If treatment is not working explains why the next step is a review, rather than adding another product.
