ED and premature ejaculation: different treatment questions
Distinguish erection concerns from ejaculation concerns when reading combination-product records.
Erectile dysfunction concerns getting or maintaining an erection. Premature ejaculation concerns ejaculation timing and control. A product marketed for both combines treatment questions that should be assessed individually, even when the ingredients appear in one tablet.
Read both ingredient names
The imported catalogue contains combinations with dapoxetine, fluoxetine or duloxetine. These partner ingredients are not interchangeable names. Malegra FXT lists fluoxetine, while Malegra DXT lists duloxetine; the similar product names do not make their medicine reviews equivalent.
Dapoxetine has a documented single-ingredient Priligy record in Australia for a defined PE indication. Fluoxetine and duloxetine are antidepressants with their own uses and precautions. Their inclusion in this directory reflects named combination records, not a recommendation of the combinations.
Ingredient evidence is the starting point
A registered single-ingredient medicine does not establish the evidence, dose, formulation or authorization of a fixed combination containing it. A clinician needs to consider both concerns, the other medicines being taken and the exact product being proposed.
Sildalis is a different case: its source lists sildenafil and tadalafil together, both PDE5 inhibitors. It is included for product-name coverage and should not be interpreted as advice to combine two ED medicines.
Take a complete list to the consultation
Include prescriptions, nonprescription products, supplements and any occasional ED treatment. Do not discontinue prescribed antidepressants or add an ED combination on the basis of a catalogue entry. Ask which condition each ingredient is intended to address and which exact product information applies.
