Indian ED and PE brands explained: domestic, export and marketing names
How Indian ED and PE brands differ, why some are made mainly for export, what names such as Super, Professional and CT mean, and how to check a pack.
Indian pharmaceutical companies make many of the world’s ED and PE medicines. Their brands fall into two broad groups, and the names they use follow patterns worth knowing before you compare products.
Domestic and export brands
Some brands are sold through ordinary Indian pharmacies on prescription. In October 2026 we found Manforce, Suhagra, Silagra, Edegra, Penegra, Megalis, Tadacip and Duralast in Indian pharmacy databases such as Practo, Apollo Pharmacy and PharmEasy.
Other brands are made mainly for export. Cenforce, Fildena, Avana and Super P-Force appear in manufacturers’ own catalogues, some of which say they serve global markets and take business enquiries only, but not in the Indian pharmacy listings we checked. A few, such as Kamagra, Vidalista and Malegra, appear in both.
Neither group is automatically safer. What matters is whether the product is authorized where you live and whether it comes from a licensed pharmacy.
What the names usually mean
- Professional usually means a tablet that dissolves under the tongue (Cenforce, Vidalista and Tadalista Professional).
- CT, Chewable, Polo or Soft usually means a chewable tablet.
- Oral Jelly is a gel sachet, swallowed as one dose.
- Super Active usually means a soft capsule.
- Super or Extra Super often means a second medicine has been added, usually dapoxetine (Super Vidalista, Super P-Force, Super Avana). It is not consistent: one exporter uses “Super” for a 60 mg tadalafil tablet.
- Gold, Strong, XXX, Double or Extra Power are marketing words without a fixed meaning.
The only reliable identity is the ingredient and amount printed on the pack.
Strengths above licensed doses
Several export brands list strengths that reference labels do not use: sildenafil at 150 or 200 mg (the labelled maximum is 100 mg), tadalafil at 40, 60 or 80 mg (maximum 20 mg), and dapoxetine at 90 or 100 mg (licensed doses are 30 and 60 mg). A higher number on the pack does not mean a better effect, and it raises the chance of side effects.
How to check an Indian brand
- Confirm the ingredient, strength and company on the pack and leaflet.
- In India, medicines are regulated by the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation. Outside India, check your own country’s regulator; our guide to medicine records lists them.
- Use a licensed pharmacy and a prescription. A pack labelled for export may not be authorized in your country or in India.
