Checking an ED medicine and its source

Check a product identity, country-specific label and licensed supply route before relying on seller claims.

A product profile and a pharmacy listing answer different questions. The profile identifies a documented medicine; the seller still needs separate verification.

Read the full product identity

Check the exact name, active ingredient, strength and formulation. Compare the company role and local authorization against the relevant regulator’s record. A manufacturer, importer, sponsor and authorization holder are not interchangeable roles.

Original brands and Indian branded generics use the same identity checks. Country of manufacture does not establish permission to supply the product in your country.

Check the supply route

FDA’s US guidance advises using a pharmacy licensed by the appropriate state authority, requiring a valid prescription where applicable, and providing access to a licensed pharmacist. Check the equivalent licensing and supply requirements in your jurisdiction.

A convincing website, a product photograph or low prices do not establish legitimacy. Unsafe sellers may supply medicines with incorrect, excessive, missing or harmful ingredients. FDA also warns that fake storefronts can misrepresent where a product comes from.

Check the actual pack

A directory cannot authenticate an individual batch. Ask a pharmacist to resolve discrepancies in the name, ingredient, pack, lot or expiry. Do not take an unknown product to see whether it works.

Keep medical suitability separate

A legitimate supply route does not make a medicine suitable for every person. Review interactions and urgent symptoms and discuss treatment with a qualified clinician.
