Levitra (vardenafil)
Levitra is Bayer’s original vardenafil brand. See its EU-authorized tablets and orodispersible tablet, strengths and product record.
- Active ingredient
- Vardenafil
- Form
- Film-coated tablets; orodispersible tablet
- EU authorization holder
- Bayer AG
Levitra is a reference vardenafil brand. The EU record names Bayer AG as authorization holder and identifies both film-coated and orodispersible presentations. The precise form should be part of every comparison, including when two packs display the same milligram number.
Two 10 mg products are not automatically equivalent
The product information lists 5, 10 and 20 mg film-coated tablets and a 10 mg orodispersible tablet. It states that the dissolving presentation is not bioequivalent to the 10 mg film-coated tablet and gives it distinct administration instructions.
In formulation-specific studies, the orodispersible product produced greater total blood exposure without a consistent increase in peak concentration. That finding explains the need for different instructions; it does not establish that every “Professional” tablet or jelly containing vardenafil is clinically faster. The vardenafil article interprets the research.
A comparison beyond onset
High-fat food can delay the film-coated formulation’s onset. The label also includes QT-related precautions, so heart-rhythm history and certain antiarrhythmic medicines can affect the choice. This is a specific medicine-review issue, not a prediction of an arrhythmia in every user.
Valif and Vilitra are separate vardenafil records, with different company and strength evidence. Shared pharmacology does not transfer this EU authorization to another product. Check the formulation, tolerability, interactions and local authorization together; a higher listed strength alone is not a better clinical comparison.

About vardenafil
Vardenafil film-coated and orodispersible reference tablets are not bioequivalent. A dissolving form does not establish that every jelly or Professional product works faster. QT-related history and interacting medicines need review.
Using a PDE5 inhibitor safely
Never take a PDE5 inhibitor with nitrates, recreational nitrites (“poppers”) or riociguat, and do not combine two ED medicines. Seek urgent medical help for chest pain, an erection lasting more than four hours, or sudden loss of vision or hearing.
Common side effects include headache, flushing, indigestion and a blocked nose.
