Udenafil: ingredient and products

Udenafil explained, a PDE5 inhibitor from South Korea sold as Zydena, with the Indian brand Zudena and what the research shows.

Udenafil is a PDE5 inhibitor developed by Dong-A Pharmaceutical in South Korea and sold there as Zydena. It works in the same way as sildenafil and tadalafil: it supports the erection response to sexual stimulation.

How it compares

Udenafil reaches peak blood levels about 1 to 1.5 hours after a dose and has a half-life of 11 to 13 hours. That places it between short-acting sildenafil and long-acting tadalafil, and Korean studies have tested it both on demand and as a daily dose.

Evidence and approval

Trials in Korean men studied 100 mg and 200 mg doses, including a study in men taking blood-pressure medicines. A 2020 review describes udenafil as available for ED in South Korea only. It is not authorized by the EMA, MHRA or US FDA, and most English-language medicine leaflets do not cover it.

Safety

As a PDE5 inhibitor, udenafil must not be combined with nitrates, recreational nitrites (“poppers”) or another ED medicine. See interactions and urgent symptoms.
